DEBUTS: 

Maroon 5 debuts his 2nd single from his failed album Love Is Like, the title track. For a post-Hands All Over track, this song isn’t too bad. Lil Wayne doesn’t do a bad job, but it’s just very forgettable. Won’t be coming back to this often.

Tinashe gets her second “summer” smash on the countdown with the remix of No Broke Boys. My statement on the song when it was in HITBOUND still reigns mostly true, although now I think this song fairly rivals the original. One of the best EDM remixes of the year (low bar but whatever).

AJR re-enters Betty. I see a lot of people hailing this as one of AJR’s best tracks (another low bar) but I just don’t see it. It’s much better than the slopfest of Yes I’m A Mess, but it still isn’t too interesting.

DEBUTS:

Doja Cat finally kicks off her Vie album promo with Jealous Type. This is her best song ever, hands down. The 80’s synth’s work perfectly, and the belt at the end fucking kills it. I know people throw around the term “pop perfection” whenever there is a pop song that’s slightly good, but this is quite literally pop perfection.

twenty one pilots are back with Drum Show for their second single off Breach. This album will be at least top 2 in their discography. The group delivers a perfect rock production, and Josh sings quite well, so I’m surprised we haven’t heard vocals from him yet. That clashed with Tyler’s screams at the end of the bridge puts this as one of the best songs of the year.

sombr releases his underwhelming debut album I Barely Know Her, and i wish i knew how to quit you seems to be the song they’re making the release single. This song just doesn’t work. Really forgetable and I wish 12 to 12 stuck around over this.

Dasha the country colonizer comes back with Like It Like That. It’s pretty unimpressive and very forgettable. I don’t have much to say honestly.
