DEBUTS: 

Kehlani is a name I thought wouldn’t be on the charts, thanks to HITS 1 never picking up on R&B (please get MUTT on there), but she showed out and delivered a strong song. The song is carried by her beautiful vocals, especially around the 2nd chorus with the vocal run. I hope this song brings more R&B to the countdown.

DEBUTS:

Chappell Roan debuts with one of her best songs yet, The Subway. She’s been teasing this one for a while and for some reason released The Giver before it, which didn’t really go anywhere. The song really powers through its 2nd half, but that doesn’t make the 1st half bad, with lines like, “fuck this city i’m moving to saskatchewan,” being standouts for me. Hopefully this goes #1 on the countdown and fix this conservative slopfest.

Reneé Rapp released her album BITE ME yesterday, and instead of going for the album release single Shy, they go for the album closer. I’m not complaining or anything, the song goes off with the rock infused production and Reneé’s humor is strong on this one.

Demi Lovato returns to pop with Fast, a dance-pop track which could really go well with a Charli xcx remix. That being said, it does sound like a leftover from the CRASH era, but I do respect Demi doing something new and making something good out of it.

Get this country slop the fuck out of my radio station.
