DEBUTS AND RE-ENTRIES:
HUNTR/X debuts for the first time on the charts after a surprisingly successful movie. Me and K-POP usually don’t mix well but this song works nicely. If you do decide to go listen to the song, please listen to it while watching the animation, truly beautiful stuff there.
sombr is back with his second debut on the chart with back to friends. This song seems to be the bigger hit out of the two TikTok picked up, and I’m really glad about it. While most of his songs do sound very similar to each other, it doesn’t make them bad. I’ll take sombr over Benson Boone anyday.
My goat Tate McRae is back on the countdown with Revolving door. Tate fits the songs mental breakdown at the end quite perfectly, and the music video’s choreography fits the song incredibly well. I pray this song gets Tate another #1 on the chart since somehow Sports car never did it.
HITBOUND:
Thomas Day - she got a thing about her (3rd week)
Alessi Rose - Dumb Girl (NEW)
dv4d and jasontheween - Summer Uptown (3rd week)
Audrey Hobert - Wet Hair (NEW)
mgk - miss sunshine (NEW)
Conan Gray - Vodka Cranberry (3rd week)
The Kid LAROI - HOT GIRL PROBLEMS (NEW)
Jessie Murph - 1965 (2nd week)
Jonas Brothers - I Can’t Lose (2nd week)
Michael Clifford - remember when (NEW)
sombr - 12 to 12 (NEW)
KATSEYE - Gabriela (3rd week)
SIENNA SPIRO - You Stole The Show (NEW)
OneRepublic - Beautiful Colors (NEW)
Haven Madison - Castle (5th week)
Maroon 5 - California (2nd week)
Alessi Rose debuts her 4th song in Hitbound from her EP, Voyeur, and we can wrap Alessi Rose’s run on HITS 1 up. This song is just a ballad that never really goes anywhere. That Could Be Me should’ve stuck around instead of this.
Audrey Hobert was on a strangely good single run until the release of Wet Hair. She just sounds like an imitation of Gracie Abrams, which makes sense since she’s her main writer, but dear GOD we don’t need Gracie Abrams imitations.
mgk debuts his third song from his new LP, miss americana, called miss sunshine. I honestly couldn’t tell you a thing from this song, extremely forgettable and mgk as a whole is not worth having around the chart.
Now we’re getting into the good stuff. The Kid LAROI debuts HOT GIRL PROBLEMS after HOW DOES IT FEEL? missed Hitbound for some reason. This song’s lyrical content isn’t the best, but goddamn that beat FUCKS. If leaving Tate McRae leads to this, I’m perfectly fine with it.
Michael Clifford, member of 5 Seconds of Summer, debuts the second song from his LP, SIDEQUEST, with remember when. Quite literally, I can’t remember how the song goes. I’m sure it’ll stay around for a thousand fucking weeks so I can remember them.
SIENNA SPIRO enters Hitbound with You Stole The Show. I can tell right off the bat she’s an incredible singer. In the right atmosphere with red wine inbetween my fingers, this song could be incredible. Sadly, I’m in my house and under the legal age to drink.
One of adult contemporary’s top ten bands OneRepublic debuts with Beautiful Colors off of the Kaiju No. 8 soundtrack. Who on the Kaiju No. 8 sound design team decided OneRepublic would fit perfectly with an anime about eating parasitic creatures and turning into mythical beasts? It’s nothing impressive, but would be better on the Pulse rather than HITS 1.
POTENTIAL DEBUTS ON THE COUNTDOWN SOON:
KATSEYE - Gabriela
Chappell Roan - The Subway
Alex Warren - Eternity
Addison Rae - Fame Is A Gun
REASONINGS:
Gabriela is set to impact US Pop Radio tomorrow (July 29th)
HITS 1 will definitely play The Subway when it releases on July 31st
Eternity is turning into a streaming hit even after two of his pre release singles flopped
Fame Is A Gun is getting airplay on HITS 1 after her HITS 1 Takeover.
That’s it for now, take care.
I agree with ur sombr claim (still a benson fan but sombr is my number one artist <3)
